In a shocking and macabre twist, a seemingly ordinary business trip turned into a nightmarish tragedy, leaving the family of Vietnamese makeup artist, Tran Dinh Phu, grappling with disbelief and unanswered questions. Phu, a renowned figure in Da Nang’s beauty scene, was one of six Vietnamese nationals found dead under mysterious circumstances in a luxury Bangkok hotel suite. What began as a lucrative opportunity to work for an enigmatic client quickly spiraled into a deadly game, with fatal consequences.
Phu’s client, Sherine Chong, had long presented herself as the wife of a Dubai billionaire. She paid him handsomely – a staggering US$5,000 per trip – to ensure that her high-society image was always flawless. But behind the glamorous facade lay a more sinister reality. When hotel staff discovered the lifeless bodies of Phu, Chong, and four others, all signs pointed to a murder-suicide orchestrated by Chong. It was suspected that cyanide-laced tea cups were the lethal weapon of choice in this chilling crime.
Phu’s family is struggling to comprehend the sudden loss. His mother, Le Thi Tuy, shared her heartbreak, saying, “Sometimes, I hear the gate creak and still expect him to walk through, back from work. I could never imagine that trip would be his last.”
Though Thai authorities have pinned the tragedy as a case of poisoning, the grieving family is far from convinced. “He didn’t even drink tea or coffee,” his mother insisted, fixating on the water bottle seen in crime scene photos. For her, the question remains – if Phu had done nothing wrong, why was he targeted?
With Phu’s vibrant career now cut short, his loved ones are left with nothing but painful memories and a lingering sense of injustice. As investigations continue, one thing is clear: behind the allure of wealth and status, lies a dangerous world where deception and greed can lead to deadly consequences.
